WHAT WE DO
Do you feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed?
Are you facing a stressful situation or finding it hard to adjust to a new environment, such as starting a new job, dealing with unexpected challenges, or adapting to college life? If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. The Center for Counseling and Mindful Living, LLC, offers individual therapy to help you manage life’s challenges and work toward your goals.
What is clinical psychology
and how can it help you?
Clinical psychology focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral issues. Clinical psychologists use evidence-based approaches to help individuals better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They support a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and adjustment challenges. Through therapy, you can learn coping strategies, gain insight into your life patterns, and build skills to improve your well-being. Counseling helps you understand how your thoughts and feelings affect your daily life and supports you in managing anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, and other mental health concerns.
Who can benefit from therapy?
Therapy is for anyone looking for support, personal growth, or help with emotional challenges. People start therapy for many reasons, such as managing stress, dealing with changes, coping with loss, improving relationships, or wanting to understand themselves better. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, everyday stress, or just want to build resilience, therapy offers a caring and judgment-free space to talk about your experiences. It’s a helpful step for anyone who wants to feel better and live more fully.
What to expect in therapy?
In therapy, you’ll find a supportive and confidential space where your concerns matter. During your first sessions, you and your therapist will discuss your goals, background, and why you’re seeking help. Your therapist will listen with empathy and without judgment, helping you understand your challenges and recognize your strengths.
You and your therapist will work collaboratively to create a plan that fits you. This might include talk therapy, mindfulness, or learning mental tools that you can apply in your life. Therapy is a team effort, and your input matters. As you continue, you’ll become more self-aware, learn helpful coping skills, and make positive changes in your life.
Therapy takes time, and growth happens gradually. Your therapist will support you at your own pace and encourage you to discover your strengths, build resilience, and make positive changes.
Where will therapy take place?
Therapy sessions can take place either remotely (via a secure video platform) or in person at our Princeton office, depending on your needs. Virtual therapy offers flexibility and convenience—you can attend sessions from the comfort of your home or another confidential space, making it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to access support if you live farther away. We can also offer a hybrid option for those who may prefer a mix of in-person and virtual sessions but cannot always make it to our office.
In-person therapy sessions offer a face-to-face connection in a safe, warm environment. Some individuals find it helpful to have a dedicated space outside their home for therapy, allowing them to focus fully on their growth and healing.
Whether you choose remote or in-person therapy, your experience will be professional, confidential, and tailored to your needs. Dr. Chafos will help you choose the format that best supports your goals and comfort level, and you are welcome to discuss your preferences at any time.
Note from your therapist
“ Welcome! My goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and respected—no matter what you’re facing. Together, we’ll identify and explore your strengths and work toward overcoming challenges. Every journey is unique, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
As Brené Brown says,
‘courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.’ ”
